Mixology

  • I am passionate about cocktails and have a keen interest in mixology, having received training from some of the UK's top mixologists.
  • I have attended molecular mixology training with IP Bartenders, which gave me a some exciting new perspectives on both the chemistry of drinks and the way that people perceive them.
  • I was on a training course with Ian Burrell, the rum ambassador, where I learnt about 28 of the world's top rums.
  • My training in spirits has included brands such as Pernod-Ricard, Absolut, Havana, Beefeater, Skyy, Chivas Regal, and many others. I'm currently organising training sessions with Jim Beam, Maker's Mark, Courvoisier and others.
  • I have often used a molecular mixology approach in my work. Recently I have created chocolate orange tequila, jelly-baby vodka, raisin-infused rum (which is amazing!), coffee and vanilla whisky and bacon-flavoured bourbon.
  • I have designed a number of original cocktail recipes, which have become favourites at several bars. You'll have to come and see me at work to find out which they are!

Flairing

  • I began training as a cocktail flairer in 2007 and have flaired regularly in a number of cocktail bars, as well as at celebrity parties and high profile events, like the national TV Awards.
  • I run a flair cocktail networking and events group called South Yorkshire Flair, which seeks to share the fun and skills of flairing, for both its audience and flairers. Find South Yorkshire Flair on Facebook.
  • I've gained valuable experience working alongside some the UK's best flair bartenders and attended a flair training course in 2008 run by top flairer, Tom Dyer.

Consultancy

  • Through my company Spiritus Bars I provide consultancy and training for cocktail bars across UK.
  • We can provide flair bartender training and can advise on how to set up a great flair station in a cocktail bar.
